Martin Rapley Martin Rapley
Bandmaster

Brief History
I first joined the band in 1978 and was promoted into the competition Band the following year. After a few years playing the bugle I transferred onto the Bass Bugle, which I continued to play until I left in 1989. I had a year away from the Band and then returned to write the pattern marching display. Gradually I became more involved by starting to teach learner buglers and then in 1995 I rejoined the competition band on the Bugle for two years. In 1997 Brian Davison retired as Bandmaster and I took over.

Aspirations for the Band
When I took over as Bandmaster my aim was to take the band to perform in America. This has not changed, our style will be unique in the States but we must take a big enough band to make the trip worthwhile.

Foreign trips with the Band

Away from Band
I work as a Construction Manager for a building contractor based in Orpington. If there is spare time after running the band you will probably find me doing DIY or enjoying a meal out.
